Things I’ve Been Loving Lately: February
Hi Friends,
It’s been a minute since I’ve shared the things I’ve been loving, so here are 10 random things I loved in February.
1) Good Skincare- One thing I wanted to focus on in the new year was taking better care of my skin. When I was living in Florida I was constantly in the sun and honestly I didn’t really focus on skincare and I started to really tell the high sun exposure was taking it’s toll. Here are the products I’ve been loving.
Allies Of Skin- I started using Allies of Skin in December and I LOVE it. I took a test on their website to see what would work best for my skin and I use a cleanser, serum and moisturizer every night. The products are super light, yet so hydrating and gentle on my skin and I’m so glad I found a moisturizer that works for me as I have pretty sensitive skin.
Sunday Riley- I use the CEO glow serum every morning and I love the fact that it’s just a quick serum to use and then go on with my day- I really don’t love spending tons of time on my skincare or makeup so this product is amazing at giving me a nice glow and it works really well under my makeup.
2) Redlight Therapy- A few weeks ago I strained my achilles during a run and I started to use a Lumebox redlight on the area. I had really only heard about the benefits of redlight for skincare- little did I know it is also incredible for injuries, muscle pain, and recovery- so I started using it every single night. I really found that it helped my ankle SO much and I healed quite quickly, and also I felt so calm using it right before bed. They are an investment but SO worth it.
3) My Kindle- Before my Euro trip I got a kindle and was SO glad I did, I used it every day and it made keeping up with reading while traveling so easy as I didn’t have to carry around books in my bag. I was on the fence to whether I would like not having a physical book in my hands, but the ease of choosing books and carrying it everywhere has won me over. If you’re looking to up your reading this year- get a kindle!
4) Daylist on Spotify- This is very random, but I LOVE the personal playlist called Daylist that spotify curates for you based on the time of day and even what day it is. I feel like it just gives you a little something to look forward to and enjoy throughout the day and the titles are always hilarious. If you need a little laugh and some good music, try it out.
5) Beekeeper’s Natural’s Bee Propolis- It’s almost spring and allergy season is upon us. I love using local honey to boost your immunity and response to allergies in your area, but I also like to keep this propolis spray on hand and it’s also extremely effective at boosting your immune system for travel or if you start feeling a sore throat coming on.
6) Replacing oat milk- Oat milk had it’s moment, and I still enjoy it every once in awhile in a coffee, but I no longer keep it in the house / use it every day. Even if it is a brand that doesn’t add sugar or oils, the carbohydrate content and natrual sugar content in oats is high, and when made into plant milk it is the worst for spiking your blood sugar. In place of oat milk, I love pistachio milk, sunflower seed milk, almond / nut based milk, or pea milk (I know it sounds strange but it’s good!). Brands I like are Elmhurst, Three Trees, Sproud, Tache and Malk.
7) High Protein Meals- I started incorporating more meat and animal products in my diet at the end of last year and I have to say I have felt and seen a difference. My nails and hair have grown, I have more energy and feel stronger. People tend to side with either all meat or all vegan, but I think having a balance of the two and staying away from extremes is important. It’s all about finding what works for you personally. I will say I feel like if you are going to incorporate more animal products to research and ensure the quality and brands you are purchasing are trustworthy.
8) Electrolytes- It’s easy to remember to hydrate in the summer, but in the winter months it can be a challenge to keep up with our water intake. I love using electrolytes to make sure I am getting the minerals I need and keeping my body hydrated in the cold, dry air of winter. LMNT is an incredible brand and I love they also have chocolate flavors you can make into hot cocoa, which makes getting your minerals easy and delicious in the colder months. I have a link to get a free sample pack with your first purchase if you want to give LMNT a try!
9) The Pursuit of Wellness Podcast- I love finding new podcasts to listen to, and this has been a new find that I’ve been enjoying. Topics ranging all across health and wellness, mindset, motivation and simple lifestyle hacks with engaging guests and topics.
10) Leaning in to simplicity- I recently listened to a podcast about practical ways to truly let your heart feel and come alive in the simple things. They gave an exercise of picking something you know is going to routinely happen each day, and then every time it happens- whether it’s the sunset, your dog getting overjoyed to see you, someone you speak to each day- whatever it is, letting yourself feel excitement, love, joy, happiness to the full as a way to just implement more joy and gratitude in your life. It sounds simple but I feel that being intentional in this way can create such a shift in our mood and our days.
There are 10 random things I’ve been loving! I hope this list gives you some fresh inspiration for the month ahead and some new things to try.
