Crispy Tofu Nourish Bowl
Tofu gets a bad rap in some communities, but trust me when I say the research has proven so strongly that all the bad things you’ve heard about tofu are NOT true. That being said, I do prefer tempeh as it is a fermented probiotic rich protein source and is slightly less processed than tofu, but I really enjoy the crispy texture of well cooked tofu, and I want to share my favorite way to marinade/prepare it with you.
I love how versatile tofu is as it really takes on whatever flavor profile you dress it with!
The OG crispy tofu recipe-
Nutritional yeast
sea salt and pepper
Garlic powder
Onion Powder
Dijon Mustard
Red pepper flakes
Paprika
Method-
In a shallow dish or a mixing bowl, add in 2 tbsp nutritional yeast, a hefty dash of each spice, and 2 tbsp dijon mustard. Whisk together.
Meanwhile, open tofu, drain water and press block between two paper towels. I usually cut mine into small bite size servings. Each block contains about 4 servings.
Add tofu into the marinade and gently fold mixture together, adding more spice, mustard, or nutritional yeast as desired.
On a parchment lined baking tray, add into an air fryer (my favorite method) at 400 to 450 degrees F until tofu is crisp on the outside, or bake in the oven on 450 until crisp, broiling at the end if desired.
Enjoy with your favorite vegetables, carb, and healthy fat for a well balanced nourish bowl!
